Not only has Attorney General Alberto Gonzales failed to explain the firing of eight U.S. Attorneys, now he’s "tightening the leash" on people who prosecute federal crimes through an unfair performance review process - a process that will include politicians' gripes against the prosecutor!
Gonzales’ indicates the new prosecutors’ review would include a "process" to tell them what they're doing wrong - but nothing that would impede dismissing them for any reason. This process wouldn’t measure how well a prosecutor does their job, but how loyal he or she is to the administration's agenda.
